It isn't surprising that a place like the internet would attract it's share of cowboys and scammers. The world wide web is a lot like the wild wild west of yesteryear. Neededly unregulated and wild in many ways. With the Nigerians offering us 10% of a million dollars in exchange for the details of our bank account, to the Romanian triads using stolen credit card numbers, to the Asian groups making pirated copys of software, easily downloadable free or for a fraction of the price of the official products.

There are snake oil salesmen and fake healers and money gurus promising the earth and delivering little. With a painted picture like that, it would be understandable if we all just closed our computers and just read a good book.

But the internet, like other things is a dichotomy. Just as there are bad things, there are immensely good things and immeasurably valuable and useful things on the internet.

Making money on the internet is one particular area that isn't so much full of scammers as it's full of fake gurus, attempting to sell us false or misleading information in an effort to get our money. Not every are malicious, some are just plainly misguided, but the damage is the same. We buy something that seemed like an excellent opportunity, only to waste our time attempting to make it work, followed by a dis-spirited giving up on the dream we hoped for. To make money on the internet, you have to think logically and asses opportunities with a discerning eye.
