Changing Corporate Culture

If your company is planning to execute a development plan and in these plans there are changes concerning new management, new products, or new partners in the business, this amounts to changing the corporate culture or it could mean that your corporation is developing into more.

When asked, many people don't know what corporate culture means. If you ask employees, most likely they'll tell you their meaning, which is the environment in which they work. If you ask customers, they'll say it means the way in which you take care of their business.

The corporate developments that management refers to are the goals that companies set. for example, when a company decides to increase the products they sell by a substantial amount, the strategies for handling more products and plans for the increased volume of business are corporate development.

These goals and strategies and plans are normally the responsibility of the CEO. They may appoint others who work directly under them, but the ultimate responsibility for making sure everything is taken care of falls on the shoulders of the CEO.

Other executives in the company may also have the responsibility of corporate development. There are sometimes teams that are in charge of this phase of development when the company is very large. The volume of work that it will take is more suited for a team of developers rather than one person.

This is also because the corporate development executives are needed to be somewhat of a legal expert due to the negotiations and proceedings being more along the lines of contracts and such. The executives often have MBAs or CPA certification.

If you decide a corporate development management job is for you, be prepared to be responsible for more then one aspects of the company from the ideas that are the start of the development to the relationships you'll build with investment bankers. It will be your ideas that will be listened to by the senior management teams. It will also be your responsibility to sell your ideas to not only the management team but the CEO as well.

There will be large amounts of money involved in the decisions you make. This may mean billions of dollars. The corporate development involves aspects such as acquisitions which depending upon the company that you work with can lead to huge mergers or consolidations that may have an impact on the world.

This is a big responsibility but one that is worth every minute if this is the route that you decide to take. When you think about it, corporate development is responsible for virtually every large company in the world. The biggest company in the world did not start that way. They were once a smaller company that made their way to the top by what other means than - corporate development.
